How to track audiobooks, ebooks and print books in one place

Mixing formats? Here's a simple system for tracking audiobooks by time, ebooks by percent and paperbacks by page — without your stats getting messy.

Most readers don't stick to one format. You might listen on the commute, read on a Kindle in bed, and keep a paperback on the nightstand. The problem: many trackers only think in pages.

Log each format in its natural unit

  • Print:pages. Simple, and matches what's in front of you.
  • Ebooks: percent. Kindle locations and reflowable text make page numbers unreliable.
  • Audiobooks:hours and minutes, matching your player's timestamp.

In Lumi, each book has its own format, and progress updates use that unit automatically. Your insights still roll up into one picture — total minutes, books finished, and a breakdown of which formats you actually read.

Time your sessions

A reading timer is the fairest way to compare formats. Twenty minutes of an audiobook and twenty minutes of a paperback both count as twenty minutes of reading. Lumi's timer runs as a Live Activity, so you can pause or finish a session from the Lock Screen without opening the app.

Save quotes with the right reference

A great line deserves a reference you can find again: a page number for print, a chapter for ebooks, or a timestamp for audio. Lumi stores whichever fits the format.

Keep “currently reading” honest

Two or three books at once is normal when they're different formats. Pin the one you're most likely to pick up today to your Home Screen widget, and let the others wait their turn.
