Why we built Lumi, a private reading tracker
Lumi started as a simple question: what would a book tracker look like if it were made only for you — no feeds, no followers, no account?
Most book apps want you to perform your reading. Post the review, share the shelf, beat the challenge. That's great for some people. But a lot of us just want to remember what we read, where we left off, and the lines that stuck.
No account, on purpose
Lumi doesn't ask you to sign up. Your library is stored on your iPhone, and if you want it on more than one device, it syncs through your own private iCloud. We never see your books.
A ghost who keeps your place
Lumi the reading ghost is there to make the app feel warm rather than clinical — a little companion who keeps your page while you live your life. Warm colors, soft paper tones and a serif type that feels like a book made the rest of the design fall into place.
Seconds, not minutes
Every feature is measured against one question: does this get you back to the book faster? Logging a page from a widget, ending a session from the Lock Screen, scanning a barcode to add a book — the app should disappear when you don't need it.
What's next
We're listening closely to early readers. If there's something you'd love Lumi to do, we'd genuinely like to hear it. And if you haven't tried it yet, Lumi is free on the App Store.
